Kevin's Cupcakes
(adding 7 + 7)

2 boys in the 3rd grade,
14 in their class,
Birthdays on the same day,
Lucky they liked math...
Their names were Juan and Kevin,
They made a secret plot,
We'll each bring 7 cupcakes,
14 is a lot...
           
On the boys' 9th birthday,
Juan walked straight to school,
With his biggest smile,
Cupcakes looked so cool...
But Kevin had no cupcakes,
He'd left them all at home,
Kevin had no cupcakes,
He felt so all alone...
Juan looked straight at Kevin,
You know what we can do?
I can cut my cupcakes,
Give half of them to you...
He cut his 7 cupcakes,
He cut them each in half,
Then shared his 14 cupcakes,
Enough for the whole class!
             
On cupcakes they were munching,
Kev's mom came running in,
Holding 7 cupcakes,
Kev began to grin...
Kevin said to Juan,
You know what I can do?
I can share my cupcakes,
Give half of them to you...
